About the book design and execution

This historical document is a primary source on the farm economy during the end of the 18th and into the 19th century. Transcribed and edited by John R. Conklin, a descendent of the original owner of the document, an account ledger from a farm in Dutchess County, part of New York's Hudson Valley. The biggest challenge in designing this book was keeping the original document's layout intact, as to provide an accurate representation into the language, accounting style, and industry and economy of the times. The book also includes several pictures and scans of the account ledger itself.
