FAQ's

Myth : All self-publishing companies are the same.
No way. There are huge differences in self-publishing agreements. A bad agreement will have you paying high rates for poor quality publishing services while restricting your rights and lowering your royalties. Epigraph will help you fully and profitably deploy your rights through a spirit of partnership, true expertise and service.

Myth: I’m better off with free self-publishing
Not if you really care about your book’s success. ‘Free’ is such a powerful marketing hook, but after many invested hours, unsuspecting authors eventually have to spend money to design the right cover, proof the book, list it on Amazon, the list goes on and on. It’s easy to rack up hundreds, even thousands dollars in add-ons, and the high cost of books and low royalty rates associated with many DIY self publishing sites makes it nearly impossible to recoup your investment.

I have a great idea for a book, but have no idea where to begin.

Writing an outline often helps to organize your thoughts. You can also talk about your idea to people whose opinions you trust. A truly publishable idea will have the effect of stopping listeners in their tracks. Take advantage of Epigraph’s free consultation to run your idea past publishing professionals.

I have a finished manuscript, and need an editor. Do I need to find my own editor first?

Why should I choose Epigraph?

Mostly because you are interested in the quality of publishing services we offer and because you understand the advantages of its economic formulas such as
higher royalties and lower printing costs. Even though your publishing agreement with Epigraph is easily cancelled, for most authors the relationship with a
publisher is long-term in nature. Like a prospective marriage partner, you want to insure that publishing company's mission is in alignment with your own.

There is no set limit but if your book has a lot of photographs and/or other graphics it will treated as a complex design.

Can I use my own design?

You can! See My Design. However do not choose this option as a way to reduce design costs. My Design designs are usually more labor intensive than if a design designs from scratch.

No. Epigraph publishes in all genres.

I have two books to publish. Can I get a bulk discount?

No. Epigraph's rates are already based on substantial discounts.

How much of my personal time will I need to invest to publish my book with Epigraph?

That depends on you and how involved you wish to be.  Some of our clients turn their manuscripts over to us, ask us to edit, design and market for them.

Other clients wish to remain very involved in some or all of the publishing processes.

How long will it take for Epigraph to publish my book?

Once we have an edited manuscript for design, we can typically have a physical proof our book in your hand in about a month. After you approve your proof, your book is ready to be printed. It will appear on online re-sellers sites such as Barnes and Noble.com about a month after proof approval.

What are the main differences between your BASIC and CONCIERGE services?

The Basic is a 'design and distribution' service with editorial and marketing add-on's available. Concierge is a fully integrated publishing service including editorial, design and marketing. The main advantage of Concierge is that your designer, editor and publicist are all involved in the publishing process from the start.  The aim is a coherent and creative team effort to produce the very best book possible.
