Epigraph highly recommends copyediting and proofing for all books.Our editor checks for errors in grammar, punctuation and spelling. In addition, the editor will verify cross-references and will (upon your request) impose industry-standard style based on the Chicago Manual of Style at a cost of $2.25 per page. Epigraph will provide a quote for editorial services upon review of your manuscript and after conferring with you about the level of editorial services you desire.

In addition to copyediting, the editor can also make suggestions that will improve syntax and word choice and may recommend light structural changes to improve the overall readability of your work.

Improve your marketability!

This is a special kind of developmental reading called top line editing, and its purpose is to determine if we can in any way help you to substantially improve the marketability or readability of your work. One of the most important considerations during this step is titling. We help you understand how to think about the most elusive but critical components as it pertains to your book. If the top line edit reveals non-grammatical improvements, then you and your manuscript move into what is conventionally called ‘developmental editing.’ This is ‘fix-it’ editing where your editor guides you through any non-grammatical improvements suggested and approved by you. If the ‘fix’its’ are minor, your manuscript skips the ‘fix-it’ stage and goes into copyediting. But nearly every book can be improved by our modified version of developmental editing, sometimes significantly so. When a team of experienced and sincere people, including you, ask themselves the question, ‘can the book be improved?’ the results are never disappointing. When the answer is yes, you have a path of action, when the answer is no, you are ready to publish with pride.
