Line editing: $0.020 per word: In addition to copyediting, the editor will also make suggestions to improve syntax and word choice and may recommend light structural changes to improve the overall readability of the work. |

| Developmental editing: $0.045 per word. Developmental editing is “big picture” editing which includes attention to the minutest of details. Developmental editing begins with the question, “does this book work?” For fiction titles, primary consideration is given to plot, character development, pacing and dialogue. For nonfiction titles, your editor will analyze readership, purpose and possible uses of your book to determine the appropriateness of content, writing style and overall organization. A sample of the work to be done at paragraph, chapter and structural levels is provided author. Upon approval of the sample, the editor continues to make recommendations throughout the remainder of the manuscript. The manuscript will then be returned to the author together with a summary of requested revisions. The author can make these changes or purchase the services of a book doctor to help make the alterations. Completed developmental edit will sometimes include an estimate for book doctoring. Once the changes have been made, the manuscript will undergo a second line edit at no additional cost. | ||||||
